Here are some suggested topics we can theme presentations around to provide a unique learning experience for your students.
Our trained staff are experienced in presenting to children of all ages including those with special needs. We visit schools (Prep–12), outside school hours care, childcare centres and kindergartens, special schools and tertiary institutions throughout South-east Queensland.
Our presentations include at least eight animals and are Curriculum aligned and tailored for you. Single classes run for 40 minutes, double classes for 1 hour, or we adapt to suit your program. We can focus on local, endangered, rainforest, desert species or animals from anywhere in Australia and can provide information on classification, life cycles, weather effects, habitats and adaptations.
Animal Adaptations
Adaptations are intriguing and this activity explores the wide range of ways that wildlife use to camouflage, climb, constrict, mimic, protect, feed, fly, swim, dig, hang, hop and run. Every animal species is designed to do something special in order to aid its survival and over the course of this activity we get to meet a wide range of animals all doing their special thing.
Animal Classification
Students are introduced to a range of wildlife including invertebrates and the major groups of terrestrial vertebrates – mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. Where relevant the classification can be extended to include examples of marsupials and placental mammals and the various reptile orders. Distinguishing features such as skin coverings, breeding biology and other classification criteria are illustrated and discussed.
Life Cycles
We will present to your class a broad range of wildlife to provide a diverse cross section of animal life cycles from Amphibians, various reptiles, birds and mammals.
Weather Effects
This topic will explore the many different ways our wildlife face the challenges of weather effects, using strategies such as migration, hibernation, shelter and survival in climatic extremes.
Habitats
Whether your class is exploring the micro-habitats within the school grounds, the broader range of habitats in SEQ, or the whole of Australia, we have the wildlife to provide an informative and fun presentation
